Christian Right not on GOP speech list / Convention to air moderate speakers aimed at swing votes
Don't expect to see the reverends Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson or Franklin Graham at the podium during next week's Republican National Convention, whose planners hope to keep fire, brimstone and the Christian Right offstage at Madison Square Garden.
Apparently the bush administration doesn't want people to see their Christian Right roots on prime time TV. That doesn't seem very Christian to me.
"The image of Bush with Robertson or Falwell may not be very appealing to the swing voters they are now looking to acquire,'' said the Rev. Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State.
"Both Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson said Americans caused the attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11 because God did not protect the country because he didn't like what Americans were doing,'' Lynn said.
Hmmm.... let me see. The convention is where? New York you say? Hmmmm....
