George's Birthday

No not that one!

If George Orwell were still alive, today would be his 100th birthday. I just re-read 1984 about 2 months ago. Little did I know, when I first read it in junior high, that I'd be close to living it in the future. Did you know that if the Federal government is investigating you, and you use the library, that the librarian is forbidden by law (Patriot Act) to reveal that information to you? Go to the American Library Association for detailed information.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has a page giving a summary of their chief concerns with the PA.

It's amazing that the present administration seems to be using 1984 as a manual (dare I say Roadmap) rather than a warning.
